Two people were arrested near Madridas accused of stealing more than 700 pieces of high-quality Iberian ham, an iconic product of Spainthe Spanish Militia announced today.

The total value of the loot is estimated at almost 200,000 euros. These are Los Pedroches cured meats, controlled designation of origin, as explained by the Spanish police.

Images released by the Spanish authorities show whole pieces of Iberian ham piled inside a small truck.

The sausages were stolen last Wednesday morning in Villanueva de Córdoba, in the southern part of the country.

Some of the stolen goods were found in two vans in Getafe, in the southern suburbs of Madrid, and another in Villanueva de Córdoba.
