73-year-old Irina Tati and her 50-year-old daughter Elena Trupanov are the two Russian-Israeli hostages released earlier by Hamas in favor of Vladimir Putin.

The two hostages were kidnapped from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 as they were spending Saturday with Elena’s son Alexander and his girlfriend, who are believed to be still being held captive by Hamas.

Elena’s husband was killed during the attacks. Elena was one of three women who appeared in a video released by Hamas three weeks after the attack calling on the Israeli government to take action to free them.

According to the Israel Defense Forces the two women are now on Israeli soil and are being escorted by special forces and members of the Shin Bet security service.

“After they undergo an initial medical assessment of their health, our forces will accompany them until they are reunited with their families,” the IDF says.

The video released by Hamas shows chaotic scenes of their handover to the Red Cross.
