“Israel’s shelling of Gaza makes it difficult to secure a new truce,” Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh al-Thani said.
Chances of new ceasefire diminish, Qatar says, as Israel steps up offensive.
The IDF reaches the south and hits Han Younis, while at the same time it is estimated that they will need two more months of war until Hamas is exterminated.
Further south, Rafah has turned into a huge refugee camp, where famine and epidemics lurk.
“The chances of a new cease-fire in Gaza are decreasing”
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh al-Thani told the Doha Forum that Israel’s shelling of Gaza makes it difficult to secure a new ceasefire. Qatar helped mediate the previous week cessation of hostilities.
UN chief Antonio Guterres he also said from Doha that he regretted the failure of the UN Security Council to demand a ceasefire in a vote on Friday, adding that “the authority and credibility of the organization were seriously undermined”. The US opposed the move on behalf of its ally Israel – both of which argued it would benefit Hamas.
