The Lebanese organization released today in Beirut announcements about the death of two of its fighters, without specifying the location or time
Two Syrian security forces and two Lebanese Hezbollah fighters were killed in overnight Israeli strikes on targets near Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today.
“Two Hezbollah fighters and two Syrian guards” working at the Lebanese group’s facilities were killed and three other fighters and three civilians were wounded late last night, the MCO said.
Two Hezbollah facilities in the Sayeda Zainab sector, in the southern part of the capital, and “a radar unit” near Damascus airport were hit by the attacks, according to the same source.
Hezbollah, an ally of the Damascus regime, Iran and Palestinian Hamas, has claimed responsibility for several attacks against northern Israel from southern Lebanon since the war between Israel and Palestinian Hamas began on October 7.
The Lebanese organization released today in Beirut announcements about the death of two of its fighters, without specifying the location or time. But a source close to Hezbollah, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP that they were killed in Syria.
Earlier, the official Syrian news agency Sana spoke for strikes by the “Israeli enemy” in different sectors of the suburbs of Damascus, without specifying targets or citing casualties.
An AFP correspondent said he heard loud explosions in the suburbs of Damascus.
Asked by AFP about these raids, the Israeli army did not want to make a statement. Israel rarely comments on its operations in neighboring Syria but says it wants to prevent Iran, its sworn enemy, from gaining a foothold mainly through allies such as Hezbollah.
