The White House’s official announcement states that the conversation between the two leaders did not mention the F16 issue
Statements regarding the almost hour-long phone call he had with US President Joe Biden yesterday, Thursday night, Erdogan made today – while leaving the Friday prayer.
The Turkish president referred to what was communicated between himself and his American counterpart regarding the F-16 fighter jets that Turkey is requesting from the US.
“As you know, we had an in-depth conversation with Biden last night and the main topics of that conversation were the developments regarding the F-16s. Biden said he is positive about the F-16s and is ready to make all kinds of proposals to Congress on the matterTayyip Erdogan said.
However, in the official White House announcementin the conversation between the two leaders it did not happen no report on the subject of F16s.
According to the announcement of the American presidency, the two leaders discussed the importance of strengthening the NATO alliance, which includes the need for the immediate integration of Sweden but also the strengthening of Turkey’s interoperability with NATO. In this light, they agreed to remain in close contact ahead of the July 2024 NATO Summit in Washington.
Erdogan also referred to Joe Biden’s remarks about her inclusion Sweden in NATOsaying: “He particularly said that he is very interested in our approach to Sweden and the decision our National Assembly will take. We said that we approach the subject of Sweden with sincerity, as long as they check their approach to terrorism. Besides that, we as the National Assembly have already passed (the proposal) through the committee.”
Asked about his subject war in Gauzethe Turkish president said: “It is not possible to expect goodwill from Israel. But beyond expecting goodwill from Israel, we need to see how the whole world views Israel right now. Finally remember that in the United Nations General Assembly 121 countries were completely against Israel and these 121 acted with us. Then 40 were away. Ten sided with Israel along with America. But now times have changed. And these 121 increased significantly and acted with us. And this shows that Israel is headed for isolation.”
