The Albanian Prime Minister made the statement on immigration during the Georgia Mellon Party Youth Festival in Rome
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his participation today in Rome in the Youth Festival of the Georgia Meloni party, he referred to his country’s agreement with Italy aimed at creating two closed centers for irregular migrants in Northern Albania.
In more detail, the Albanian Prime Minister stated:
“I think the noise around this deal is blown out of proportion. One should not be surprised or alarmed when we make agreements of common interest, with a coincidence of opinions. It is an honor for us to lend a helping hand when Italy asks us to. And it will always be a privilege to be considered special friends of Italy. We must do everything we can to be a sister country to Italy.”
“The Constitutional Court of our country did its duty because, according to the Constitution, the procedure of temporary suspension of an agreement is automatically activated when it must be examined before the parliament’s sanction,” he added.
Edi Rama, finally, concluded: “this agreement does not contain any unconstitutional elements. The maximum deadline is next March but I am confident that the relevant decision will be made much earlier. This is a very important decision and we need to know, both governments, if we can proceed or not”.
