The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announcing the victory of his party, stated that the next government will have a four-year term and will deal with improving the living standards of citizens
Aleksandar Vucic once again confirmed his dominance in the Serbian political scene. According to unofficial figures representing 92% of polling stations, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) received 46.3% of the vote. With this percentage, it occupies 128 of the 250 seats in the parliament and has the possibility to form a government on its own. In the previous parliament, the SNS held 120 seats in the parliament.
“Serbia Against Violence” coalition takes 23.6% and 65 seats. In third place is the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) with 6.6% and 18 seats. Next is the coalition of nationalists “NADA” (Hope) with 4.9% and 13 seats. The surprise of yesterday’s elections is the entry into parliament with a percentage of 4.8% (13 seats) of the newly formed combination “We – The voice of the people” led by the conspiracy theorist, anti-vaccination doctor Branimir Nestorovic. Representation in parliament is ensured by five minority parties. Union of Magyars of Vojvodina with 6 seats, Union of Croats of Vojvodina with 3 seats, SDA party of Muslims of Sandzak with 2 seats. The Russian Party also enters the parliament, occupying a seat as well as the Albanians of Southern Serbia.
The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic announcing the victory of his party, he declared that the next government will have a four-year term and will deal with improving the standard of living of the citizens.
A great victory was won by the Serbian Progressive Party and in the regional elections in the province of Vojvodina occupying 67 of the 120 seats in the local parliament.
In the municipality of Belgrade, the Serbian Progressive Party also comes first with 38% followed by the combination “Serbia against violence” 35%. These percentages do not provide the possibility of electing a mayor to any party and everything will depend on the alliances that will be made in the coming days with smaller parties. In Serbia, mayors are elected by municipal councils. The opposition disputes the results for the Belgrade municipality, pointing out that it is impossible for Vucic’s party to receive more votes. The combination “Serbia against violence” in a press conference yesterday, Sunday evening, reported that in the elections for the municipality of Belgrade, about 40,000 voters from the Bosnian Serb Republic, who do not have a seat of residence in Belgrade, voted. The opposition has announced that it will present evidence of tampering with the result in the capital and will request a repeat of the election.
Participation in yesterday’s elections in Serbia rose to 59.2%.
