The incidents that broke out at the Turkish Infantry school between Islamist and Kemalist soldiers are causing concern in the neighborhood.

The events, which have erupted for about a month, as reported by Sky’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, were initially denied by the country’s Ministry of Defense to be officially confirmed in the last few hours.

Islamic students of the school even refused to wear a badge with the face of Kemal Atatürk, during the ceremony in his memory that was held with some allegedly throwing it away.

This move of theirs caused the anger of the Kemalist Students with the incidents that followed reaching such an extent that the intervention of the Turkish police and military gendarmerie was necessary in the premises of the school.

The Islamist students speak of a Kemalist junta while the latter openly express their fears of an attempt to impose the Islamists.

The regime of discord within the Turkish military has undoubtedly caused concern in the Turkish government.
