The 24-year-old Prague hitman David Kozak, who killed 14 people at Charles University before killing himself, named Alina Afanaskina as the inspiration for his heinous act in Telegram messages.

“I want to attack a school by starting to shoot and possibly kill myself. Alina Afanaskina helped me a lot,” he characteristically wrote.

But who was Alina Afanaskina? She was a 14-year-old Russian schoolgirl who stormed the Bryansk school armed with weapons on December 7, 2023, killing one of her classmates and injuring five others before killing herself.

The 14-year-old student broke in holding a Bekas-3 shotgun that belonged to her father. The attack took place in the school’s gymnasium.

As the BBC reports, police were called to the school at 9.15am following reports of shots fired. Then they found Alina Afanaskina dead, dressed in black. A long-handled knife was also found in her boot.

The authorities did not find the motive that pushed Alina to her act, although she was allegedly a victim of bullying and had conflicts with other students.
