The French BEA participates in the technical investigations of accidents that occur abroad, as an agency of the country of manufacture of the aircraft
A team of French civil aviation Research and Analysis Agency (BEA) experts is expected in Japan tomorrow, to assist in the investigation into the collision of a Japan Airlines Airbus with a Japanese Coast Guard plane at Tokyo Airport.
The Airbus A350 of the Japanese company collided during its landing at Haneda Airport, with a Coast Guard Bombardier Dash 8, which was about to take off. The causes of the accident are still unclear, however the most likely scenario is human error. The point that needs to be clarified is at what level the error occurred. Was it from the control tower? Was the mistake made by the operator of the Coast Guard aircraft? Or did something else happen? All scenarios will be examined from the evidence and the conclusion will be given about the accident at the airport in Japan.
The 367 passengers and 12 crew members of the Airbus managed to evacuate it, although it was engulfed in flames. Five of the six aboard the Coast Guard plane were killed.
The French BEA participates in the technical investigations of accidents that occur abroad, as an agency of the country of manufacture of the aircraft. The A350s are manufactured in Toulouse, in south-west France. Japan Airlines has in its fleet 16 planes of the European group.
