Tourist boiled water and threw it into the air, without getting burned, as the water immediately turned into an icy cloud that disappeared
Record polar temperatures recorded in Finland this week inspired a tourist visiting the Arctic to try a trick he had long been curious about: to throw boiling water into the air outdoorswhen it got very cold and to see it instantly turn into a cloud of frozen dust.
This trick only works if temperatures fluctuate at a level of cold that most areas on earth they rarely or never see.
Lauri Udamo, a 49-year-old sales manager from southern Finland, was on holiday in Finnish Lapland with friends when the mercury plunged to -30 degrees Celsius on New Year’s Day.

“I had seen videos of this trick on social media or YouTube and it was doable, but the weather wasn’t cold enough to attempt it, in -30 degrees or below,” Udamo told Reuters.
As he described, he boiled water while in his accommodation, took it out and threw it in the air, without being burned himself, as the water immediately turned into an icy cloud that disappeared.
Nordic countries have been facing polar temperatures in recent days, with the lowest temperature in 25 years, -44.3 degrees Celsius to be recorded today Friday in Enontekio, further north in the Arctic than Pihotunduri, where Udamos lived.
Despite the freezing temperatures, Udamo and his friends enjoyed outdoor activities such as Nordic skiing and hiking in the snowy forest.
“We even saw the Northern Lights some nights, so Lapland gave us its best this week,” he stressed.
Just how cold is -32 degrees Celsius (-25.6 Fahrenheit)? So cold that when it reached those temperatures in northern Finland this week, one man was able to turn boiling water into a rainbow of snow and ice.
