After Hagia Sophia Turns into glass another Byzantine templewhich operated as a museum for 79 years.

According to Yeni Safak newspaper, on February 23, Monastery of the Country (KariyeCami) – on the northwest side of the historic center of Istanbul and a short distance from the Byzantine Gate of Edirne – will open its gates as a mosque for Friday prayer.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2020, together with the Hagia Sophia, had taken the relevant decision of its conversion museum of the Monastery of Chora in a mosque. And while preparations had been made for October 2020, suddenly the said decision was frozen in order to carry out some restoration works.

The Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak reports that his long-term rehabilitation Kariye Mosque (Monastery of Chora) reached its end. The historic mosque, furnished with specially designed red carpets, is scheduled to open for worship on Friday February 23rd.

On the other hand, it became known that the mosaics and the Wall paintings in the historical mosque were preserved during the restoration and will be open to visitors.
