The United States have not been in contact with Russia since there were rumors of Russia’s new nuclear capabilities in space, but Moscow is ready to cooperate with Washington on the development of anti-satellite weapons, the TASS news agency reported today, citing a statement from a Kremlin spokesman .
The Kremlin rejected yesterday the warning made by the USA on Moscow’s new nuclear capabilities in space, calling it a “malicious construct” and a White House ploy aimed at persuading US senators to approve more money to counter the Russia.
The US has briefed Congress and its allies in Europe on new information about Russian nuclear capabilities that could pose an international threat. US officials said the issue was a Russian anti-satellite weapon being developed, not an immediate threat.
Asked whether Russia would be ready to engage with the US on the issue, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov he stated: “If there are initiatives from the American side.”
