Switzerland to host summit to discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s vision for peace
Ukraine and its foreign partners could invite Russia to a future one peace conference to end the two-year-old Russian invasion, on the terms of Kiev, a senior Ukrainian official said today.
Switzerland will host session cto discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s vision for peace, a proposal that could be presented to Russia in a second phase of the summit at a later date, said Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak.
“It could be a situation where we jointly invite representatives of the Russian Federation, to whom the plan will be presented in case whoever represents the attacking country at that stage really wants to end this war and return to a just peace,” Yermak said during a teleconference in Kiev.
Zelensky he first announced his peace plan during a G20 meeting in November 2022.
This provides for the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the complete withdrawal of Russian troops.
Kiev maintains that it will not hold dialogue with Moscow unless all Russian troops withdraw from Ukrainian territory.
The Kremlin has stated that there is currently no basis for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine and that Kiev’s peace plan is absurd because it excludes Russia.
