The Belgian authorities proceeded in the arrest of four persons who are believed to be planning a terrorist attack in a concert venue in Brussels.

As the rtl network points out, three minors and one adult were arrested Sunday morning as part of an investigation by federal prosecutors targeting people suspected of links to violent Islamic extremism. The arrests were made during searches carried out yesterday (Sunday) in Brussels, Nineveh, Charleroi and Liège. The four suspects had been in contact with each other via text messages and appeared to have drawn up plans to carry out a terrorist attack. However, no weapons or explosives were found during the searches.

Soir newspaper notes that the talks are revealing radicalization and proximity to the so-called Islamic State, while they concerned an attack targeting a concert hall in Brussels on a specific date, which is not mentioned in the publication. At this time, there is no information on whether the plan was concrete, however, as the appointed date approached, no concrete actions had been taken, the newspaper clarifies.

The three minors arrested are from the areas of Nineveh, Brussels and Charleroi and the adult from Liège. The three minors will be placed at the disposal of the juvenile prosecutor’s office in their place of residence, the adult will be placed at the disposal of the Brussels investigator.
