THE Commission announced a call for submissions of €11 million proposals to support independent audiovisual reporting on European issues by pan-European media.

In order to increase the quantity, quality and impact of these reports, in as many EU languages and countries as possible, and especially in those places where such reports are rare, this call is divided into two parts: 8 million EUR 3 million will be allocated to media that will submit proposals to produce and broadcast programs and reports on European issues; the remaining EUR 3 million will be allocated to proposals for news services in languages where the media’s coverage of EU issues information is limited (including an international news service in Hungarian) and/or where the diversity of EU news content can be improved.

Candidates can apply for any of the two sections. The Committee will select one proposal for each department. The deadline for proposals is 24 May 2024. The grant agreements are expected to be signed in September, so that the implementation of the relevant projects can start from October 2024. More information about this call is available here.

The call for proposals is part of the multimedia actions, which fund general information for citizens about the EU, as well as public-facing news and programs of European interest, with full editorial independence. This funding line, totaling €20.7 million in 2024, is fully open to competition.
