The departure of the humanitarian aid boat to Gaza is expected within the next few hours, government spokesman Constantinos Letympiotis told the Cyprus News Agency (CYPE), while noting that the exact time will not be disclosed for security reasons.
“The implementation of the pilot application of the Amalthea initiative is in progress according to the original plan, and in official consultation with Israel”, said Mr. Letymiotis to KYPE in response to a question on the matter.
He added that “the departure of the cargo in accordance with the actions of the carrier is expected within the next few hours, the exact time of which will not be disclosed for security reasons.”
Mr. Letympiotis said that “the necessary control of the cargo has already been carried out by the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus in accordance with all the protocols included in the planning”.
He also noted that the Republic of Cyprus “is in constant contact with all involved partners with the aim of achieving a reliable passage for unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza”.
