Georgia Meloni’s party gathers 27% of responses – Second is the Democratic Party with 19% and third is the Five Star Movement with 17.4%
The “Brothers of Italy” party of the Italian Prime Minister remains first by a margin Georgia Meloni in a poll for the European elections that was carried out by the Ipsos institute on behalf of Euronews.
In more detail, Meloni’s party receives 27% of the voting intention. As for the conservative coalition that governs Italy, Matteo Salvini’s League and Forza Italia founded by Silvio Berlusconi “convince” exactly the same percentage of citizens, i.e. 8.2% of respondents.
As for the political opposition forces, the center-left Democratic Party is at 19% and the Five Star Movement at 17.4%.
They follow the alliance Italian Left and environmentalists, with 4.1% and the two small centrist parties Live Italy – of former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi – with 3.4% and Azione (Action) with 3%.
According to a first assessment by commentators, this poll shows that it is likely that the great supremacy of Giorgia Meloni’s party will continue in the conservative space and within the governing coalition, while, at the same time, the League is on a downward path and Forza Italia on an upward path .
As for the opposition, the distance that separates the Democratic Party from the “five stars” is limited, which could possibly cause tensions, regarding which of the two parties will play a leading role in the effort to rally the forces of the progressive space.
