US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said today he would react the same way Israel did after the October 7 attack by Hamas, but pointed out that Israel is losing international support and should end the war against the Palestinian organization in Gaza.

The deadly attack by Hamas in southern Israel was “one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen,” Trump said in an interview with the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “Having said that, you must end your war,” he added.

The video of the interview was posted on the newspaper’s website.

Trump was asked how he would have reacted if his family had been among Hamas’ victims. “I would say I would act as you did. You’d have to be crazy not to react like that. Only a madman wouldn’t do that. It was a horrific attack. It bothers me a lot when I see people not talking about October 7 anymore, talking about how aggressive Israel is,” he replied.

The Hamas attack killed about 1,200 people and kidnapped more than 250, according to Israeli figures. Israel’s operation in Gaza has killed more than 32,000 people, according to the Hamas government.
