The way Israel could respond to the Iranian attack preoccupies the world watching with bated breath the developments in the Middle East, with BBC analyst Frank Gardner giving a possible plan stressing that “the next day could to be much worse than what we experienced in the last hours”.

Israel vows ‘significant response’ to Iran’s overnight missile attack. But what form will this take? Israel’s military and its war cabinet are discussing exactly that,” he notes.

The most likely targets will be the Iranian bases that launched those missiles, he explains. Israel, however, could, according to Frank Gardner, decide to go further and strike major Iranian military bases and training centers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps across the country, causing casualties as well as material damage.

“Iran would then, undoubtedly, respond again, as it has vowed to do,” he emphasizes, adding that “we are now at the ‘middle step,’ as it is called, of a very dangerous escalation.”
