The Iranian president addressed hundreds of people in the city of Damgan a few hours after the Israeli attack
The president of Iran Ibrahim Raisi delivered a speech this morning without saying a word about the explosions reported a few hours earlier, which Iranian authorities are not linking to tension between Iran and Israel.
The Iranian president addressed hundreds of people in the city of Damgan and made a very brief reference to the tense international situation in the Middle East following last weekend’s Iranian attack on Israel.
The operation, which took place on April 13, “shows our sovereignty, the iron fist of our people and our unity,” he said. “All sections of the population and all political leanings agree that the operation strengthened the power and dominance of the Islamic Republic.”
The Iranian president made no mention of today’s explosions near the city of Isfahan, which US officials cited by US media reported as an Israeli attack.
“The information in the American media is not accurate,” he said the spokesman for the Iranian Space Agency Hossein Dalirian.
The Iranian official said that “so far, there has been no air attack from outside the border against Isfahan or other parts of the country.”
“They only made one failed and humiliating attempt to fly drones, which were shot down,” he wrote to X without giving details of those responsible for those actions.
“Today’s explosion in the sky of Isfahan was linked to the firing of anti-aircraft defense systems at a suspicious object that did not cause any accident or damage,” said the head of the Iranian army, Abdulrahim Mousavi, according to the Tasnim news agency.
“The experts are studying the dimensions of the issue and will update after receiving the results,” he added.
“You have already seen Iran’s reaction,” the army chief replied when asked about a possible response from Tehran.
