President Erdogan said Turkey continues its diplomatic efforts to draw the international community’s attention to the oppression of the Palestinians
The assessment that Israel will one day pay the price of the oppression it exerts on the Palestinians, expressed the President Recep Tayyip Erdoganduring his meeting with the Chairman of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh in Istanbul.
During the meeting, President Erdogan was accompanied by Foreign Minister Xakan Fidan, MIT Director Ä°brahim Kalin, Director of Communications of the Turkish Presidency Fahrettin Altun and the President’s Chief Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Ambassador Akif ÇaÄŸatay Kilic and Chief Adviser to the President Sefer Turan.
As stated in the announcement of the Turkish presidency, issues were discussed regarding Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian territories, and in particular Gaza, for which the subject of discussion was in particular what should be done to ensure the adequate and uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid as well as the fair and lasting peace process in the region.
President Erdogan said that Turkey continues its diplomatic efforts to draw the attention of the international community to the oppression of the Palestinians and that the need to end the brutality and an urgent permanent ceasefire is emphasized at every opportunity.
He also stated that Turkey is continuing its humanitarian aid to Palestine to alleviate the suffering to some extent, that more than 45 thousand tons of humanitarian aid have been sent to the region to date, and that a series of sanctions have been implemented against Israel, including restrictions on trade.
At the same time he will continue to explain the massacres in Gaza in every way and that all efforts are being made to establish the independent state of Palestine, which is the key to regional peace, and to bring lasting peace to the region.
He summarized that it is vital for Palestinians to act united in this process, that the strongest response to Israel and the path to victory is through unity and integrity, and that the just cause of Palestine and the facts must be told more against it Israel.
During the meeting, President Erdogan assessing the tensions between Israel and Iran he said the events should not gain ground for Israel and that it was important to carry out activities that would draw attention back to Gaza in order to prevent the atmosphere in the West questioning Israel’s attacks from breaking down.
Finally, he expressed his condolences to Haniyeh for his children and grandchildren who were martyred in the Israeli attack.
