According to the company, the plane made an emergency landing after “cabin overheating”

“Air France confirms that the crew of flight AF338 on May 7, 2024 from Paris to Seattle on a Boeing 787-900 decided to head to Iqaluit airport in Canada after the smell of overheating (materials) appeared in the cabin,” it says in airline announcement.
“This decision was made in accordance with the manufacturer’s procedures, the company’s instructions and in application of the precautionary principle. The aircraft landed normally in Iqaluit at 10:44 am on Tuesday,” the announcement states.
“The first checks by the Air France engineer who arrived on the spot do not show any anomalies for now. The checks are ongoing,” an Air France representative clarified.
Boeing is going through a difficult period that has been marked by many incidents. Three out of four commercial aircraft models currently manufactured by Boeing are also officially under investigation by the US Civil Aviation Administration (FAA), among them the 787 “Dreamliner”.
“Air France is scrupulously following the instructions and recommendations of the French and international authorities. There have been no reservations regarding the Boeing 787 and 777 fleets used by our company,” Air France clarified.
