Officials said four of the injured were in serious condition.
A shelling by Ukrainian forces late Friday night killed three people, wounded seven others and caused a large fire at an oil tank in the Russian-held Ukrainian province of Luhansk, Russian news agencies reported, citing local officials appointed by Moscow.
Officials said four of the injured were in serious condition.
“The enemy opened fire on the peaceful town of Rovensky,” Moscow-appointed regional governor Leonid Pashnik wrote on Telegram. “Due to the shelling, the oil tank was engulfed in flames and nearby houses were damaged,” he added.
This was the second such attack in three days. On Wednesday, a strike at an oil tank in the regional center of Luhansk injured five people.
Pasechnik stressed that at least one of the dead was an oil tank worker in the town, located about 60 kilometers south of the city of Luhansk. Emergency services are trying to keep the fire away from nearby homes in the city.
There was no immediate comment from Ukrainian officials.
Ukrainian bloggers and Telegram channels posted photos of the Ukrainian strike, with images showing a large fire.
