US President Joe Biden jokingly wished Donald Trump had “injected himself with bleach”, recalling the highly dangerous proposal his predecessor made in 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a campaign fundraiser in San Francisco on Friday, Biden spoke of “chaos” under the Trump presidency, which voters should not forget ahead of November’s presidential election.

“Remember when he said the best thing to do is an injection with some bleach? That’s what he had said. And he meant it. I wish he had done some himself,” Biden said.

During the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Trump had argued that injecting himself with a disinfectant such as bleach or isopropyl alcohol could offer protection against the coronavirus.

Last month, Biden again referred to that outrageous “bleach injection” suggestion, joking that Trump did it but it “went all over his hair.”

At yesterday’s event, however, Joe Biden made a blunder when he referred to Kim Jong-un, “the president of South Korea” (s.e. instead of North Korea) and his “bullies” to Trump – as he described the letters he had send to the former president of the USA.
