The Lebanese news agency ANI reported that two people were killed late Tuesday night when an Israeli drone struck a car in the southern part of the country.
Since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip between the Israeli army and Hamas on October 7, there have been virtually daily exchanges of fire on the Israeli-Lebanese border between the army and Hezbollah, which supports the Palestinian Islamist movement.
According to ANI, “the enemy drone strike that targeted a car on the main road connecting Tire and Al-Khous resulted in two martyrs.”
Earlier, the Israeli armed forces announced that an Israeli civilian was killed and five soldiers were wounded in northern Israel by a rocket fired from Lebanese territory.
“During the day, we hit dozens of Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon,” they added.
In the more than seven months of hostilities, 413 people have lost their lives in Lebanon, most of them fighters of Hezbollah and Palestinian armed movements, but also 79 civilians, according to an AFP count.
On the Israeli side, a total of 24 people — 14 military and 10 civilians — have been killed, according to official figures.
The hostilities have displaced tens of thousands of civilians on both sides of the border.
