The 71-year-old writer and poet Juraj Čindula from the southern Slovakian town of Levice is believed to be the perpetrator of the attempted assassination of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fičo, although police have not yet publicly named him.

The attacker shot Robert Ficho while the Slovak prime minister was talking to his supporters.

Robert Fitzo underwent surgery. According to Slovak TV, the operation was successful, with him in the process of being revived. According to the Guardian, citing Slovak media, his wounds are three from bullets, two in his arm and one in his abdomen. One woman said she saw blood on Fitcho’s head and chest.

The country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the perpetrator’s motives were political. The assassination attempt was unanimously condemned by the European leadership, American President Biden and Vladimir Putin.
