The pope, who in January warned of “perverse” dangers in artificial intelligence, is expected to take part in leaders’ discussions on the new technology on Friday.
It is noted that he is the first Pope to participate in G7 discussions.
The Vatican, which released its day-long schedule, said Pope Francis would hold a bilateral meeting with the also Catholic American President Joe Biden.
At the same time, he noted that will have private meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Indian Narendra Modi, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Canadian Justin Trudeau, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Kenyan President William Ruto, Abdelmadjid Tebun president of Algeria and with the head of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva.
Pope Francis last met with Joe Biden at the Vatican in 2021. At the time, the US president said the Pope told him he was a “good Catholic” and that he could receive Holy Communion even if his conservative American bishops was being denied because of his support for abortion rights.
Also, the two men talked last October about the crisis in the Middle East, after Hamas attacked Israel.
Biden has spoken respectfully of the Pope, calling him a “dignified man.”
