The former president of France Francois Hollande announced today that he will be a candidate for parliament with the new Popular Frontthe coalition of the parties of the Left in view of the parliamentary elections in France.

According to a newspaper in the region of the city of Toul, in which the former French president had served as mayor with the Socialist party, François Hollande will be a candidate in the June 30 election.

Two days ago, the parties of the Left announced the creation of a “new Popular Front”, in view of the parliamentary elections in France, while the achievement of the agreement was welcomed, among others, by François Hollande.

Asked if he himself would be interested in assuming the prime ministership after the parliamentary elections, he said that in the current phase of France’s history what is at stake is not the course of individuals but the course of the country itself, noting at the same time that there are many individuals in the field of the Left who could take over the prime ministership.
