Members of the federal government spent, according to a WELT investigation, 531,000 euros to attend football matches in the framework of the European Championship held in Germany.

THE chancellor Olaf Solz but also many ministers used government aircraft in order to go to the cities where the games will be held and then return to Berlin, with the result that the amount of expenditure will reach 531,008.86 euros, as announced by the Ministry of Defense, following a related question from the head of the parliamentary group of the Left in the Bundestag, Jeren Pelman.

“Anyone who burdens the state with costs of more than half a million euros for six supposed business trips is either completely irresponsible or completely out of place and time. “Flight should not be an alternative travel option for an evening entertainment program by the federal government.” Mr. Pellmann said, criticizing the government for dismantling Germany’s railways, so its members are choosing to travel by air.
