This is not a criticism of people but a criticism of the Democratic Party which is anti-family and anti-child, Vance said
After the backlash that caused his earlier comments about “childless ladies” and resurfaced, Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate, J. D. Vance, trying to counter the attacks, argued that his statements were a criticism of the policy of the Democratic Party, which is directed “against the family”.
“What I said was that having kids, becoming a father, becoming a mother, I really think it changes your perspective and in a pretty profound way,” Vance said.
“This is not a criticism of people who, for various reasons, did not have children. It’s about criticizing the Democratic Party for being anti-family and anti-child,” Vance said.
Directly responding to his 2021 comment on Fox News that the country was run by “a bunch of childless ladies with cats,” Vance said he was being sarcastic and the point of what he said had been lost.
“Obviously, it was a sarcastic comment. I have nothing against cats. I have nothing against dogs. I have a dog,” Vance said. “People focus so much on the sarcasm, and not the substance of what I said. Is true. It is true that we are becoming anti-family. It is true that the left has become anti-child.”
Speaking about Harris, Vance said: “I wish the best for her stepchildren and Kamala Harris and her entire family. The point is that her party has pursued a set of policies that are profoundly anti-children.”
