Early next week the third round of Kiev-Moscow negotiations

by

Mikhail Pontolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, said tonight that the third round of talks with Russia would take place early next week, Reuters reported, citing Belarus’ Belta news agency.

According to him, today’s second round of ceasefire talks with Russia did not have the results that Kyiv hoped for, but the sides reached an agreement on the establishment of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians.

He added that there was an arrangement for the delivery of medicines and food to locations where the fiercest battles are raging.

This is the first time the two sides have agreed on any issue since Russia invaded Ukraine a week ago.

However, Pontoliak said the result did not live up to Kiev’s hopes. “To our great regret, we did not get the results we were expecting,” he said, without giving further details.

“All I can say is that we have discussed the humanitarian aspect in great detail, because many cities are now under siege. “There is a dramatic situation with needs for medicines, food and evacuation of people,” he added.
