Greek Australian citizen, who is accused of a double murder he allegedly committed 47 years ago in Melbournewas arrested today at Rome airport Fiumicino.
The man, sixty-five years old, is accused by her justice Australia for two brutal murders committed in Melbourne in 1977. Suzanne Armstrong and Susan Bartlett, aged 27 and 28, were found dead in their flat. The killer killed her with dozens of knives. The only survivor was Armstrong’s sixteen-month-old child, who was sleeping in the next room.

According to Italian and Australian media, the man has been in Greece for many years, “where the law does not allow the arrest of those responsible for murder, if more than twenty years have passed since they were committed.” Seven years ago, an international arrest warrant was issued against him.
The alleged murderer arrived today in Italy on vacation and was arrested as soon as he got off the plane. Australian authorities intend to request his extradition, but it is unlikely to be given the “green light” before a year has passed.
