Jordan’s King Abdullah rules out his country being an ‘alternative homeland’ for Palestinians
Jordan’s King Abdullah II categorically ruled out today any possibility of his country being an “alternative homeland” for Palestinians, stressing that the forced displacement of populations from Israel would constitute a “war crime”.
“Let me be absolutely clear: this will never happen. We will never accept the forced displacement of Palestinians, which constitutes a war crime“, he said during his speech at the UN General Assembly, denouncing the extremists who continue the propaganda of an “alternative homeland” in Jordan.
The Jordanian monarch emphasized that “no country can benefit from the current escalation” in the Middle East, condemning Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip.
He also appealed to the international community to participate in a humanitarian aid operation aimed at providing food, drinking water, medicine and basic necessities to the besieged Gaza Strip, where almost a year after the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, the population is suffering .
“I urge all conscientious nations to join forces with Jordan in the critical weeks ahead to carry out this missionsaid King Abdullah.
“Our world has failed politically, but our humanity must not fail the people of Gaza any longer“, emphasized the Jordanian monarch.
