More than 1,000 Lebanese killed and 6,000 injured in the last 2 weeks
The chief of staff of Israel’s armed forces said tonight that Lebanon’s armed Shiite group Hezbollah has lost weapons, operatives and its leader to Israeli strikes and that Israel must continue to hit it hard.
“It has lost its leader and we must continue to hit Hezbollah hard,” Herchi Halevi said.
According to Lebanon’s health ministry, today’s strikes killed 32 people in the Ain Deleb region in the south and at least another 25 in Baalbek-Hermel in the east. In the previous two days, 14 rescuers were also killed.
According to the ministry, more than 1,000 Lebanese have been killed and 6,000 injured in the past two weeks. It was not specified how many of them are civilians. The government says a million people, or nearly a fifth of the country’s population, have been displaced.
Israeli drones flew over Beirut overnight and continued for most of the day, with loud explosions from fresh airstrikes echoing through the capital.
