The strike targeted an area inside Lebanese territory, near the border crossing, and caused a four-meter crater
New Israeli strikes this morning near the Masnaa crossing, on the border between Lebanon and Syria, blocked the road used by hundreds of thousands of people trying to escape Israeli bombardment, Lebanese Transport Minister Ali Hamieh said.
Hamie clarified that the strike targeted an area inside Lebanese territory, near the border crossing, and caused a four-meter crater.
A spokesman for the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) yesterday, Thursday, accused the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah of using the crossing to transport military equipment from Syria to Lebanon.
“The IDF will not allow these weapons to be smuggled in and will not hesitate to act if forced to, as they have done throughout this war,” Aviha Andrai explained to X.
Hamie, for his part, pointed out in a press conference yesterday that the Lebanese authorities are responsible for managing the Masnaa crossing.
According to Lebanese government figures, more than 300,000 people – most of them Syrians – have crossed from Lebanon into Syria in the past 10 days to escape intensifying Israeli bombardment.
