Kyiv: Six civilians killed in anti-personnel mine in Chernihiv

In the Chernihiv region, six civilians were blown up by anti-personnel mines, Human Rights Defender of Ukraine Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova complained on Tuesday.

Anti-personnel mines are prohibited under the 1997 Ottawa Convention. a crime against humanity and violation of four Geneva Conventions of 1949.

According to the French agency, three adults and three children have lost their lives.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory, 41 children have lost their lives and 76 children have been injured, Lyudmila Denisova added.

“By 12:00 on March 8, 2022, since the beginning of the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, 41 children have been killed and 76 injured,” Denisova said in a message to her Telegram channel.

He added that in the Dnipropetrovsk region the local Ukrainian authorities evacuated another 300 people from Kharkov. “Among those rescued is a mother with three children who came under fire from Russian artillery at night. As a result of the bombing, one of her babies was injured by the shock wave. “Also, during a conversation with the police, the woman said that a neighbor’s child died in front of them”, Denisova’s message states.
