The Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) announced overnight Saturday-Sunday that they bombed a Hamas command center, which was located in a compound that used to be a school, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas used the complex to “plan and carry out terrorist attacks against the armed forces and the state of Israel,” the IDF posted on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

The German News Agency (dpa) emphasizes that it is unable to independently verify this report.

The Israeli army points out that it took the necessary measures to minimize the risk to civilians before launching this “precision strike”, while it has not released information on dead or wounded.

The IDF emphasizes that this is “another proof of the systematic abuse of civilian infrastructure by the terrorist organization Hamas, in violation of international law.”

For the past three weeks, the Israeli army has been conducting operations in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, as a result of which hundreds of civilians have been killed, according to Palestinian sources.

The trigger for the war in the Gaza Strip was the unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on October 7, 2023 against Israel, with an estimate of approximately 1,200 dead and 250 hostages. Israel’s military operations aimed at eliminating Hamas have killed more than 42,000 people in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian enclave’s health authorities.
