The Israeli Army has released new video that captures the moment the lifeless body of Yahya Shinwar, the leader of Hamas, who was killed in Rafah in southern Gaza, was found.

The troops had engaged in an exchange of fire in which four gunmen were killed in Rafaj’s Tell Sultan neighborhood, one of whom was later revealed to be Sinwar.

The IDF also released audio of communication between commanders during the incident.

“Another terrorist we took out, we found him with a blanket over him and he’s been killed at the moment,” an officer can be heard saying.

“There may be more of you among the wreckage, but amazing work by the company, battalion and sniper,” another officer is heard saying.

The building Sinuar was in was also shelled by tanks. It remains unclear whether the sniper or the tank bombardment dealt the finishing blow to the Hamas leader.
