In eastern Lebanon, “the raids of the Israeli enemy against the Baalbek-Hermel district cost the lives of 20 people, 11 of them in the settlement of Knaisheh” while 14 were wounded
At least 33 people were killed today by Israeli strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon, which are strongholds of the Lebanese Hezbollah, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced.
In eastern Lebanon, “the raids of the Israeli enemy against the Baalbek-Hermel district cost the lives of 20 people, 11 of them in the settlement of Knaisheh” while 14 were injured, the ministry clarified in a statement it issued.
In the southern part of the country, which borders Israel, five people were killed by a strike in the settlement of Hanawai, he added.
Eight people, seven of them rescuers—six from the al-Risala Union, which is linked to the Hezbollah-allied Amal movement, and one rescuer from the Hezbollah-linked Islamic Health Committee—were killed in a strike in Deir Qanoun ( southern Lebanon), according to the same source.
Elsewhere in southern Lebanon, 12 people were injured by an “Israeli enemy strike” targeting a district of the city of Nabatiya, the ministry said.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli Air Force struck “Hezbollah terrorist positions in the districts of Tire and Baalbek,” the armed forces said. “The targets included terrorists, apartments used for attacks and weapons storage facilities,” according to the same source.
Yesterday, Friday, seven people, including two little girls, were killed by Israeli strikes against Tyre, the health ministry said in a new report today, after bodies were recovered from the rubble.
According to the Lebanese news agency ANI, these strikes targeted three apartment buildings and caused significant damage to dozens of houses.
Hezbollah, for its part, said it fired rockets and “missiles” against northern Israel today. It specifically stated that it targeted a military base north of Haifa, as well as its suburbs, and that it shot down an Israeli drone.
More than 2,700 people have been killed in Lebanon since September 23, most of them civilians, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
