Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly criticized the ongoing investigation into the leak of classified documents to the press, which are said to have come from his office.

In a video message posted on Saturday night on the X platform (formerly Twitter), Netanyahu spoke of a “witch hunt” directed against him and his associates. He also claimed that the purpose of the recent prosecution of certain persons allegedly involved in the case is to harm him and his supporters. However, the Israeli prime minister did not go into further details.

According to Israeli media reports, those involved are accused of leaking classified information with the intent to harm the state of Israel.

In his video message, Netanyahu called the accusations “ridiculous.”

The investigation involves the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security agency), the military and the police, according to reports. Earlier this month, Israeli authorities arrested suspects who allegedly leaked classified military documents from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office to the press.
