The post of the president-elect of the USA, Donald Trump about Jimmy Patronis – Open possibility for a seventh Greek-American Member of Parliament
US President-elect Donald Trump endorsed Florida’s CFO Dimitris Patronis (Jimmy Patronis) for Florida’s 1st District seat on Monday morning.
In his post on Truth, Donald Trump announced his full support for Patronis. The announcement comes after Dimitris Patronis posted on platform X that he is considering running for the position.
I am strongly considering running for Florida Congressional District 1. We’ve got an historic opportunity to fight the swamp, end lawfare and return power back into the hands of Americans. #flapol

“If he decides to enter this fight, Jimmy Patronis has my full support. RUN, Jimmy, RUN!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth.
“A fourth-generation Florida man from the beautiful Panhandle and owner of an iconic seafood restaurant, Jimmy has been a great friend to me and to MAGA,” Trump noted in the post.
“As your next Congressman, Jimmy would work tirelessly alongside me to grow our economy, secure our borders, stop immigrant crime, strengthen our incredible military/vets, restore American energy sovereignty, and we defend our Second Amendment which is always under siege,” he added.
USA: Open possibility for a seventh Greek-American Member of Parliament
As Skai.gr reported a few days ago, the resignation of Matt Getz left a window of opportunity for a seventh Greek-American in the seats of the Federal Parliamentsince it finally applies to the next Session of Congress, regardless of the withdrawal of his candidacy for the Ministry of Justice.
This is the congressional seat in the 1st District of Florida, for which the Governor of the State, Ron de Sandys, is preparing to call special elections (“special elections”), if it is finally confirmed that Gage cannot return. If this development is verified, one of the candidates is expected to be the Financial Director of the State, Dimitris Patronis (Jimmy Patronis), as he stated in his post on X.
“I’m seriously considering running for Florida’s 1st Congressional District. We have a historic opportunity to fight the ‘swamp’, end the instrumentalization of the law and put power back in the hands of Americans“, Patronis said in the post, which was made public on Tuesday, about 48 hours earlier than the withdrawal of Getz’s candidacy.
Despite the fact that there are other officials of the Republican Party who will be interested in the position, who mainly come from within the State Parliament, Dimitris Patronis is considered a strong candidate, as he enjoys particularly high popularity, while his work has been recognized as coordinator of the State Fire Service, especially during periods when it was tested by severe weather events, such as the recent one with hurricanes “Elin” and “Milton”.
In fact, the name of Patronis has also been heard for claiming the candidacy of the Republican Party for the position of Governor in 2026, since the powerful Ron de Sandys is completing his second term and does not have the possibility to claim a third, based on the current legislation .
Born and raised in Panama City, Florida, Patronis is the grandson of a Greek immigrant originally from Patmos, while professionally active as a partner in his family’s restaurant. His father was one of the founding members of the Community of Saint John the Theologian in Panama City, while he was a member of the Order of Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Although a third-generation Greek-American, Patronis has close ties to the Greek-American community and visits the Greecewhile in his public statements he has shown himself to be particularly passionate about his Greek origin.
As long as his candidacy progressed and was elected, circles of Greek-American organizations believe that he would be a Member of Parliament with a strong Greek conscience and would be particularly useful, especially if the information that Konstantinos Bilirakis is intended to be the new ambassador of the USA in Athens and leave the Parliamentary seat in 2025.
However, everything will depend on whether Matt Getz will return to the parliamentary seats, since, according to Axios, his resignation from the outgoing Federal Parliament may be considered binding with the next one as well, even if his case enters a legal “gray zone”, unprecedented in Washington.
It is recalled that expatriates Konstantinos Bilirakis, Nicole Malliotakis, Chris Pappas, Maggie Goodlander, Dina Titus and Mike Haridopoulos have been elected to the Parliament.
