US President Joe Biden has approved $ 200 million in immediate military aid to Ukraine, the White House has said.
With this new aid, the total US assistance now exceeds $ 1.2 billion.
A senior US government official said the military aid approved today included anti-aircraft, anti-aircraft systems and small arms.
It was preceded by the approval of the $ 13.6 billion emergency aid package for Ukraine by Congress.
Russia warns US against sending weapons
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has previously warned the United States that foreign weapons could be “legitimate targets”.
“We have warned the United States that supplying Ukraine with weapons from a number of countries orchestrated by them is not just a dangerous move, but it is precisely these actions that are turning these hubs into legitimate targets,” he said.
