It is recalled that the process for the meeting began on October 22, when the leader of the Nationalist Action Party of the ultra-nationalist Gray Wolves, Devlet Bakhceli, had proposed lifting the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan, on the condition that he himself go to the National Assembly, renounce armed action and call on the PKK members to disband the organization.
In his statements to the Turkish National Assembly, Mr. Bakhceli had said: “If the chief terrorist’s isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the Party Group Meeting of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and shout that terrorism is completely over and the organization has been abolished.”
On November 26, the Party DEM he applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with the organization’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan, in Imrali. On December 27, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc announced that a positive response had been given to the DEM party’s request for a meeting.
