A representative of the far-right AfD stated that plans are being made for a discussion between Elon Musk and the leader of the faction, Alice Weidel
A representative of the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) said yesterday Tuesday that planning is underway for a discussion that will take place digitally between the American multi-billionaire Elon Musk and faction leader Alice Weidel.
“We are already in contact regarding (discussion) through X Space between the two of them,” AfD spokesman Daniel Tapp told Der Spiegel magazine and the German news agency.
This is X’s ability to stream live events.
Last Monday, Mr. Musk said through the platform, which he owns, “wait until Alice and I have a conversation through X Spaces. They will lose their heads.”
Mrs. Weidel has already publicly thanked Mr. Mask for his support with videos he uploaded to the platform. So far, the world’s richest man, who is poised to take a key public administration post in Donald Trump’s administration after the Republican takes office on January 20, and the head of the far-right faction, which opinion polls is preparing to become the second party in Germany’s February 23 early parliamentary elections have not discussed by phone or otherwise, “but that will certainly change very soon,” according to AfD spokesman Tapp.
Mr. Musk on Monday launched a new attack on Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, calling him an “anti-democratic tyrant”, commenting on the claim by a far-right AfD influencer that the head of state can cancel the election.
“Steinmeier is an anti-democratic tyrant! Shame on him,” he said via X.
The services of the President of the Republic stated that they recorded the post and have no comment.
In a speech to the Bundestag, Germany’s lower federal house, the country’s president warned days ago against attempts to “influence from abroad” the parliamentary elections and referred to X by name.
Mr. Musk, known for his often highly provocative comments on the platform, has come out in support of the AfD, causing uproar and backlash, and has come out against German politicians. At the weekend, his article in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper in support of the far-right party again sparked backlash and led to the resignation of the newspaper’s opinion page manager.
After the collapse of Germany’s three-party governing coalition in November, Mr. Musk had called outgoing Social Democrat Chancellor Olaf Solz “stupid” and predicted he would be defeated in the election.
Also, the head of companies like Tesla predicted that “he will lose the next election” and… President Steinmeier, probably not knowing that the President of the Republic is not elected by the citizens in Germany.
