The entire planet in a highly festive mood welcomed the new year from end to end with spectacular shows as is customary on this festive day. Fireworks lit up the night skies, smiles spread everywhere and people took to the streets to celebrate the arrival of 2025.
Christmas Island in Kiribati, an island nation in the central Pacific Ocean, is the first to welcome the New Year each year. Hawaii, American Samoa and many of the outlying US islands are among the latter places.
In New York people traditionally celebrate the coming of the new year in Times Square since 1904. Even from the day before, dozens of citizens camp in the famous square. The clock strikes 12 and thousands of confetti fall in a spectacular show. Smiles, kisses and hugs ensue among those present. But what everyone looks forward to every year is the ball drop, which is when a glowing ball comes down a large flagpole to mark the start of the new year. So a five-tonne Waterford crystal ball flashing with more than 30,000 LEDs was dropped as the new year just arrived with crowds welcoming the new year by reveling in the streets. With fireworks, dancing and singing they celebrated the coming of the new year and in Rio de Janeiro. Copacabana had its fair share of people partying while the night turned into day with the spectacular fireworks.
Crowds gathered early on the River Thames in London to watch the massive fireworks display for the coming 2025.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan posted his New Year’s message and a video of the fireworks, saying: “The greatest city in the world. The biggest fireworks in the world. Happy New Year, London!”:

A sensational display of fireworks was performed by the Burj Khalifa as the city of United Arab Emirates welcomed 2025 in a spectacular show where 15,600 fireworks appeared in the night sky.
People had gathered early and at Elysian Fields in festive Paris to attend artistic events that had been planned in advance. As soon as the clock struck 12 the Arc de Triomphe began to glow and fireworks lit up the already City of Light.

Its leader North Korea and his daughter attended a New Year’s Eve show at the May Day Stadium in Pyongyang. State media released still images of Kim Jong Un and Kim Ju Ae at the event early on January 1.

They welcomed the new year with spectacular fireworks and Madrid. The central Puerta del Sol square in the center was flooded with people.
In India the party was endless with the streets flooded with people.
