Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is traveling to Florida, USA, where she will meet President-elect Donald Trump, according to Italian media reports citing sources close to her.

Meloni is expected to arrive at 19:30 on Saturday (local time, 02:30 on Sunday in Greece) and will proceed to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago mansion.

The Meloni-Trump meeting has not been officially announced.

Of all European leaders, the Italian prime minister – head of the conservative “Brothers of Italy” party – is considered to have the best relationship with US President-elect Donald Trump. He is also on friendly terms with American billionaire Elon Musk, an adviser to Trump who returns to the White House in a few days.

Meanwhile, outgoing US President Joe Biden is set to visit Rome next week and hold meetings with Pope Francis and Prime Minister Meloni.

Giorgia Meloni leads a three-party government coalition in Italy, while last year she chaired the G7, the group of the world’s seven most industrialized countries.
