THE electoral map her Germany reflects a new reality. And this reality includes an unprecedented and powerful new opposition: the far -right. Comment by Dimitra Kyranoudi. The image in the headquarters of the CDU in Conrad Adenauer Chaos, the Christian Democrats headquarters, at the Berlin political center.

Frantic festivities, embrace, dance, German beer, Bretsel smiles. The picture at the far -right offices for Germany, in a more remote district of Berlin. Both parties consider themselves winners of yesterday’s match. And they have every reason to do it, or not?

Anti-Merkel vs anti-woke agenda

The Christian Union and Friedrich Mertz, the next Chancellor, may not have caught 30%, but the victory is unquestioned and will certainly lead the next coalition. It gained the confidence of the majority of citizens with one – they say many – “anti -merkel” agenda, with harsh positions on immigration, foreign policy. A male figure, in contrast, with the “mutti” (manula) Merkel, a leader with excessive fist and excessive confidence, though many say – and within the CDU – that this is precisely his weak point, excessive fist and excessive self -confidence. Spiegel magazine had called him “enemy of himself”, leaving spikes for arrogance and centralized character.

On the other hand, Alice Weidel, the Iron Lady of the far -right, who in the social media appeared as Jean Dro Ark in recent days, brought the German, special and largely divergent from the constitutional order according to the secret services of the far right, of a powerful opposition. Although not charismatic, as analysts say, she is effective by bringing the AfD first to five East German states with incompetent percentages, which only traditional parties in high -rating systems are able to receive, like 38% in Thuringia.

Germany must look in the mirror

Germany appears again on the day after the election. The electoral map is its mirror that reflects a reality, which of course is not new, but it is difficult to manage. Old West Germany has been painted black, in the colors of the Christian Union and East Germany, the old former Communist Popular Republic is now stable and clear blue: the color of the German far -right.

The new post -election reality reflects voters’ choices. All AfD voters may not be neo-Nazis, but this almost 21% who would like Alice Weidel for Chancellor, she also wants mass deportations of all foreigners, dreaming of a German-Four, a German only for the Germans, he wants to return to the Patriarchal Economist, reducing many legislative rights such as the right to self -determination of gender or the right to Abortion, he wants to return to carbon and invests everything in relationships with Trump, Si Jinping, Putin.

Germany, though it will, as it all shows so far with an old government coalition of the two major parties, Christian Democrats/Christian Socialists and Social Democrats, does not enter the new day with confidence. Probably with insecurity and uncertainty.

He knows that a 20% have chosen the far -right in the role of harsh opposition, with what she is overtly embraced by, after all, she’s never hidden. It gives her the opportunity now to become more institutional, more urban, more ready to take on the future perhaps more responsibility. And that causes terror. But it is also a truth that Germany is facing today and has to analyze honestly and courage. And to see how it will ensure the integrity of so difficult to win parliamentary and constitutional traditions of the post -war.
