Many executives of the Church of England, including a former Bishop of Canterburi, are threatened with disciplinary measures
Many executives of the Church of England, including a former Bishop of Canterburi, are threatened with disciplinary measures due to their involvement in one of the worst pedophilia scandals in its bosom.
Last November, a survey concluded that the Church of England covered a series of attacks and sexual abuse that was in the 1970s. The case led to the resignation of the leading Justin Welby. According to this report, Welby “would have and could” be mentioned in early 2013, when he was informed, the sexual attacks that a lawyer has committed for decades, related to the Church of England, John Smith. The lawyer, who has now died, is said to have attacked more than 130 children.
Today, the group that has taken over the policy of protection within the church has released the names of the other ten priests, who will seek to “start disciplinary procedure” for the same case. Among them is George Carey, Archbishop of Canterburi between 1991-2002, who knew John Smith’s action and had received a copy of a report on the subject, which he “denied ever”.
The 89 -year -old Carey resigned from priesthood in December after another investigation was made public that he was not informed by the police that a bishop had been accused of sexual abuse at a time when he was Archbishop.
In the other thirty members of the Church of England, disciplinary sanctions will not be imposed because there are insufficient evidence for their involvement.
John Smith died in 2018, without ever being arrested or accused of anything. “It was undoubtedly the most active perpetrators (sexual) attacks” in the church of the Church of England and caused “brutal and horrific” physical, sexual and psychological traumas in people in Britain, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
