At least three people were killed and nine others were injured due to a Ukrainian attack on the village of Bilaia in the Russian region of Kursk, a small part of which remains under Kiev troops after last August’s unexpected invasion, according to a report by the local authorities.

In a post on the Telegram platform, the regional governor Alexander Hintenein reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a shop in the village of Bilaia, causing three people finding death and nine others injuring. Hinstain condemned the “brutal and inhumane” crime.

With the unexpected invasion of Ukrainian forces in the Russian region of Kursk in August 2024, Kiev hoped that the attacks on the eastern and northeast Ukraine would be stopped, that it would force Russia to withdraw forces that were promoting to the East.

However, the Russian troops continue their advance to the eastern part of Ukraine, while the Ukrainian forces are alleged to have lost control of about 2/3 of the territories they had occupied in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian National Defense Chief of General Staff, General Olexandr Sirski, assures that the situation in Kursk remains “under control” and ordered the mission of aid to the area.
